Though you may be a bit more panicked about the personal data that was extracted during last week's PlayStation Network security breach, another unintended side effect of that has been PS3 owners being unable to access Hulu Plus (a connection to PSN is required during use). In response, the powers that be at Hulu have decided to offer a one-week credit towards their premium subscription, which so far spans the entirety of the outage. Unfortunately, the company has no added information on when the service will come back, but at least House was a rerun this week.
Xbox 360 owners, on the other hand, can look forward to Hulu Plus starting this Friday, April 29th. According to a leaked scan of the next Official Xbox Magazine issue obtained by Joystiq, Microsoft will be running a contest from then until May 30th that'll randomly award users various prizes just for using the video service.
A copy of the email sent from Hulu to PS3 users is after the break.
Unfortunately, due to the outage on PlayStation® Network, Hulu Plus subscribers cannot currently access the application on the PS3™. We understand this is frustrating, and we are looking forward to Sony restoring access to the application as soon as possible. In the meantime, we’d like to offer you a 1-week credit toward your Hulu Plus subscription. In order to automatically redeem your credit, please click here at any time within the next two weeks.
You can still continue to watch your favorite shows on many other devices -- the full list of devices is available here. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We're happy to help however we can.
