Sony Ericsson has yet to score a blockbuster Android win, but as niche markets go, last year's X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro proved that these guys do know how to make a pretty sweet micro-smartphone (and -- in the case of the Pro -- still somehow include a great keyboard). On that note, we're excited to hear that they've finally announced a pair of successors today. The Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro are slate and landscape QWERTY slider models, respectively, launching in "selected markets" in the third quarter with Gingerbread, 3-inch HVGA displays, 5 megapixel cameras, 720p video recording, and 1GHz Snapdragon cores. A power user's delight? Not exactly, but perhaps a great second phone if your primary device is four inches or larger -- I think we've all run into situations where portability is more important than muscle.
