We had a feeling Google was going to announce some improvements to Honeycomb at Google I/O, and here it is: Honeycomb 3.1! The update should be rolling out to Verizon Xoom owners sometime today, but Google's gave us a short preview of what's to come on stage. The updates seem pretty UI centric -- the task switcher now supports scrolling and you can now stretch widgets vertically and horizontally. The other major update seems to be the addition of USB host support, an issue we addressed in our Acer Iconia Tab A500 review. Android 3.1 tablets will support "a ridiculous number of input devices" and they even showed an Xbox 360 controller hooked up to a tablet, although it didn't seem to work. In addition, the update will include the new Movies app, which will let you rent tons of new movies from the market. No doubt these are some pretty awesome and much needed additions -- we've got our Xoom ready for the OTA update, so stay tuned for some impressions! Also, some quick screenshots after the break...

Update: Google has posted a full list of platform highlights. Most of what is detailed was discussed in the keynote, but there look to be some more UI tweaks. The browser controls look particularly interesting. Now just roll out that Xoom update, Google and Verizon! We don't have all day!
