Fraunhofer Institute video demo: 10Mbps data transfer over visible light
At IFA today, some extremely smart folks from the Fraunhofer Institute showed us how data can be transferred with the use of visible light. By modulating the output at a frequency too high for the human eye to recognize, they've achieved transfer rates of up to 800Mbps under lab conditions. What you'll see in the video after the break is a 10Mbps connection, which was somewhat blighted by poor conference call software, but the future for this technology looks, dare we say it, bright!
