New Apple TV version found in iOS 5 filesystem
The folks over at 9to5Mac have discovered a reference to a previously unseen Apple TV version 3,1 in the iOS 5 system files — it appears a new Apple TV is in the works. Don't get too excited. We've seen the iOS filesystem drop names like the iPhone 3,2 that never materialized in real life before, but if this is real, we're expecting a major redesign. A reliable source gave us information in January on an Apple TV that would run a dual-core A5 CPU and spit out full 1080p video with ease. The beefy hardware has so far proven elusive, but now there seems to be evidence that something is brewing in Cupertino. With the iPhone 4S capable of recording 1080p video, but lacking a full HD screen, it's a great time for Apple TV to fill that void.
