The Amaze 4G is HTC's first NFC-enabled phone, but it's surely just the first of many. The company has signed onto the NFC Forum as an Implementing Member, which gives it access to resources and input regarding NFC specifications and marketing, and is a public display of commitment to the technology. Sharp and ZTE joined the Forum as well this week, as Associates — this gets the companies access to the Forum's processes and solutions, but no creative input. The three companies join a list of industry giants: Samsung, Sony, Nokia, and Microsoft already sit on the Forum's Board of Directors as Sponsor Members, and Motorola, Google, Qualcomm and RIM are Principal Members — they're the top-level members, driving the process of actually creating and implementing NFC specifications. Noticeably absent is Apple, which has been flirting with NFC for some time but has yet to release a device with it inside.
