Ricoh purchase of Pentax Imaging finalized
Back in the beginning of July Ricoh announced that it would acquire Pentax imaging for $124.2 million dollars from its current owner, Hoya Corporation. As of yesterday, that deal is completed, and Pentax is officially a part of Ricoh.
No plans have been announced to change the way that Pentax does its business, and Pentax branded products will still be produced, but the move certainly should help Ricoh — which has struggled to gain DSLR market share against competitors such as Canon and Nikon — to improve its standing.
