The Next Web has done some interesting research on Google's success rate over the years. They claim that Google has launched 251 products since 1998, and that 90 of those have fizzled or been canceled — a failure rate of about 36 percent, if true. It's an interesting analysis, but we'd note that lately Google's taken aggressive steps to refocus itself and cut the fat, so we might just be looking at a company that's finally found itself.
