Hewlett-Packard nabbed a big fish to lead webOS developer relations, but he's on his way out the door — Richard Kerris is departing HP after nine months on the job. webOSRoundup was first with the news, and we can independently confirm that report, though we can only guess why he left and don't know where he might be going. LinkedIn still shows Kerris as VP of Worldwide Developer Relations for webOS, his Twitter feed is relatively silent and there's been no official statement from HP as of yet, but it's true, and this is a blow to any remaining enthusiasm in HP's mobile software platform.

Update: HP has confirmed that Kerris is leaving for "an opportunity outside the company," according to a statement given to PreCentral:

"Richard Kerris, vice president, Worldwide Developer Relations for webOS, has decided to leave HP to pursue an opportunity outside of the company, effective immediately.  We are grateful for his service and contributions he has made to HP and the webOS community."
