So is Apple really building a TV?
TC and I worked up a post on the hotter-than-ever Apple TV rumors, all stirred up by the Jobs biography and pushed even farther by Gene Munster, who's been harping on it for years now.
Does anyone buy this at all? I definitely don't — I don't see Apple being super pumped about making a TV with 5 HDMI ports for your cable box and PS3 and Xbox and Roku and Blu-ray player or whatever, and I don't see how they can deliver enough compelling built-in content and gaming options to completely eliminate inputs entirely. (I see how they can deliver some compelling content and gaming options, just not enough.)
I think the better model is that the TV becomes nothing but a dumb screen with inputs, and Apple keeps pushing out cheap boxes that deliver their content and seamlessly stream from their devices. All of the upside, none of the hassle. Thoughts?
