Asus has called on Bang & Olufsen's design and IcePower audio in its N series multimedia laptops before, but the latest refresh brings those two even closer together with the addition of a bundled subwoofer. Beyond the included external speaker, the new 15.6-inch N55 and 17.3-inch N75 have been given a much needed redesign with the help of Bang & Olufsen's designer, David Lewis. The systems are thinner and the overall aesthetic — at least from the pictures — is cleaner. Other than the size difference, the specs are identical on both models with Core i5 and i7 CPUs, 6GB RAM, 640GB hard drive, and Nvidia GeForce GT555M graphics (with Optimus) driving the 1600x900-resolution displays. The laptops also come with an HD webcam, USB 3.0, and a six-cell battery. The specs aren't jaw-dropping, but with prices starting at £649 (about $1040), the N series should attract at least those who are looking to ditch a laptop with a terrible set of speakers. They are available from various UK retailers, but no word on when they'll hit the United States.
