Porsche Design P'9981 announced: BlackBerry inside, Porsche outside
It's real. Porsche Design and RIM have officially announced the Porsche Design P'9981 at their event in Dubai, confirming the funky angular handset that we've been seeing leaked for months now. As expected, the internals of the phone are identical to the BlackBerry Bold 9900, with BlackBerry 7 running on 1.2GHz processor with a 2.8-inch 640 x 480 display, a 5 megapixel camera, and NFC, but it's that wild exterior that's really important here — it's stainless steel with a leather back cover and a "sculpted' keyboard that features a slightly redesigned layout. There's also some minor skinning of BlackBerry 7 and a bundled augmented reality app called the Wikitude World Browser, and all P'9981s will have a custom BBM PINs so everyone will know you spent $2,000 on a BlackBerry when it goes on sale later this year.
