busted ipod classic

anyone ever get a red "x" on start up of an ipod classic?  No apple stores in my area, any suggestions?  Tried pluggin it in, tried reset and getting nothing!  Would hate to hear that it's bricked since all my cd's were synced to it since it's a 160gb version.

I have a 16gb iphone 4 and cannot put a fraction of my music on it.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks.  (anyone else loving the verge) :-)
