Google's eBookstore launches in Canada
Canadian ebook readers now have another source for material — Google's eBookstore is now available north of the border, 11 months after launching in the US and just a month after launching in the UK. Google has "hundreds of thousands" of books for sale and over two million free public domain books; this selection is compatible with e-readers like the Kobo or Nook, or tablets and phones running Android or iOS. One notable incompatibility is with the Kindle, which historically has only supported Amazon's proprietary ebook format. And with the Kindle Fire not initially coming to Canada, Canucks might be more inclined to try Google's offering and the wider variety of devices that are supported.
