Great news for anyone who bought one of Sony Ericsson's 2011 Xperia handsets: your phone will definitely be getting upgraded to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. This comes straight from the company's official blog and covers the full range introduced this year: Xperia Arc and Arc S, Xperia Play, Xperia Pro, Xperia Neo and Neo V, Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia Ray, and even the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

It's going be fascinating to see how Ice Cream Sandwich fits on the smaller members of that family, particularly the Mini and Mini Pro, which also have the corner UI enhancement that helps make more efficient use of their relatively cramped 480 x 320 screen resolution. Sony Ericsson says it's working on merging its current Xperia experience with the features of Android 4.0, and further details on timing and availability will be forthcoming "in due course."

This is official confirmation of a promise the company made on Facebook last month. It's good to see that the full 2011 portfolio is indeed being included. Now we just need those release dates and we'll be all set.
