Xperia Arc S and Neo V now available unlocked in the US
The Xperia Arc S and Neo V have been out in Europe for a month already, and now they're available for purchase in the US — albeit without carrier support. To use them on AT&T or T-Mobile, you'll have to buy the Sony Ericsson Gingerbread smartphones unlocked, although they're only compatible with AT&T's 3G bands. Both models are almost identical to their namesakes: the Arc S bumps the processor up to 1.4GHz, while the Neo V's rear camera now features 16x digital zoom, but it's not clear why it's been downgraded to 5 megapixels. Naturally, the devices ship with Sony's UI atop Android 2.3.4, which has a 3D sweep panorama feature, Swype-like text input, and enhanced Facebook functionality. The Sony Store is selling the Arc S for $499.99, while the Neo V is $349.99. Retailers such as Newegg will also begin offering the phones starting in December.
