The Android Nexus Dream! Truly Unified [VIDEO]

Today Android is swiftly moving towards the biggest and the best smartphone OS in the industry. After all it wouldn't have been possible without Google and the kind of support it gives to its ventures and how it integrates the current product line they have. The amazing way it has integrated YouTube, Gmail, Gdocs, Gtalk and maps to its services like Google+, is amazing and this is just a start. Google took a big leap of faith in Android. To be frank, Android wouldn't have attained even half of its glory without Google's support and strategy to earn money out of an open source OS.
Google is definitely more focused and moving much quicker after Larry Page coming to the job as the CEO after Eric Schmidt. Recently google bought Motorola Mobility, the hardware business of Motorola, to extend their power in terms of mobile patents or so they say! Google being the generous company it is, by following their motto of "Don't be evil" said that Motorola acquisition is going to work as a separate company and Google won't be interfering as it was mainly bought for the patents.

I do understand their strategy as Google going in to hardware comes as clear threat to its other manufacturers pushing them to go? Samsung, HTC, LG and many other are already using Windows Phone 7 and it is totally understandable. Windows Phone 7 doesn't come free but it doesn't come with lawsuits as well. More than 95% of Google's revenue comes from ads, Motorola is incorporating losses in past few quarters. What Google is good at is advertising and what Motorola is good at is making great hardware products; seems like a match made in heaven. Well not quite if they are not going live in the same house and work together! One of the main reasons which puts people off from Motorola is their Android skin; I think very few people like it and at times it even degrades the value of its hardware.

When I first saw the Lapdock I was truly moved and thought this is the way to future. I didn't see projectors or Star Wars like screen to be the future of tech; this was more real. It is like going the stylus way for tablet was meant to be a failure but a digital keyboard on touch screen just worked. I think Lapdock is the way to go in future but they just need the right pricing and much better hardware integration. Now I think all the wrongs can be turned right after this acquisition. Their Lapdock, multimedia HD dock, vehicle dock and few other are great products which haven't caught up due to its price.

Google+ is getting integrated in all the current Google services in the web and mobile - there is no denying that it is the closest social media platform which can come to mammoth Facebook and Twitter. Even the looks are starting to get unified across the web apps and all of it is closely being integrated with brilliant simplicity. Google is also started to unify its software for Android with using a unified OS for phone tablets and TV. Also it is a work in progress and the way they are handling it is great. They have unified their web apps, they have unified their Android OS, so what is the next step? They have covered the web, they have covered the mobile with Android OS and so the only step that is left is the hardware! Finally Google has came up with brilliant designs in Ice Cream Sandwich to truly unify all of their different devices having a consistent User Interface. Now for the next stop would be to unify great products like Lapdock into the OS as it is the bridge between hardware and software. Motorola's skills lie in the hardware and that's what they should do! It's all about solving the puzzle, we all have the pieces in front of us but it's upon us to see and put the right piece of the puzzle in the right place.

Google has got a unified OS for Google TV, tablets and phone. Only piece of the puzzle is a desktop OS which it has in the form of Google Chrome OS. That's all about the software! Now lets talk hardware as Samsung now creates its ChromeBooks, Logitech creates Google TV, and a lot of companies create smartphones and tablets including Motorola. Google Nexus phones are supposed to be a match made in heaven - great hardware meets great software and mostly it works great especially with the latest Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It is a brilliant phone don't get me wrong but it's not my dream phone.

My Dream Nexus

  • Design: Thin as Droid Razr
  • Performance: Fast as Quad Core
  • Display: Retina Display(1080p HD)
  • Camera: 8MP Camera with dual flash(1080p recording)
  • Software: Ice Cream Sandwich(One single OS adaptive according to accessories)
  • Wireless Charging or PowerMatt
  • Battery life lasting more than a day
  • True Vanilla Android
  • Webdock and Lapdock with Google Chrome OS(Phone call features built in with market apps)
  • Multimedia Dock with Google TV
  • Docking Tablet(adaptive screen size)

This would a truly unify Google Nexus phone with a match made in heaven between software and hardware. The basic idea is on hardware phone and one OS for the phone with lots of accessories which makes it work like a tablet, Netbook and a multimedia device. I know this kind of device may never come to existence or would be at least couple of years from its being but we live in a hope of that day when all of this will be a reality!

Now a short mock-up video to share my vision, it is not the best video but I tried. Hope you enjoy it!

I mean, isn't all of this possible in today's day and age? Why can't all the people at Motorola who waste their time creating shitty Motorola blur can actually work with the Google guys to complete this bridge between the hardware and software? Hardware today is as fast as the computers and there are already talks of quad core processors on phones. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have one device for all tablets, laptops, desktops, vehicle docks and home multimedia entertainment? Google has unified its software well, apart from Chrome OS but that's not a true Nexus phone. My dream phone or true the Nexus phone will be something like this and that is when the whole circle will be complete.

In my opinion google should stop worrying about other manufacturers and truly integrate motorola in to google. This will provide truly astonishing device like I previewed above. It would be the iPhone of the google selling millions of handsets!

This kind of phone is a dream but one that you truly wish would come true!
