A9's Flow app is augmented reality Amazon shopping
Amazon's subsidiary A9 has just released Flow, an augmented reality shopping app for iOS that works a bit like Google goggles, but in real time. It uses your camera to pick up barcodes and product packaging in the real world from pretty much anything you might also find on Amazon and overlays prices, availability, reviews, and playable media from Amazon.com onto the screen. A9 also handles Amazon's product search, so we'd expect this to work at least as well as searching yourself. You can also use it to share on Twitter, Facebook, or email, or just buy the product right there — Amazon Prime shipping works too. It won't work on the Kindle Fire for lack of a camera, but you'd look a little silly using this on a tablet anyway. The app is available on the iTunes App Store for download right now, but we'd expect it to come to Android soon as well.
