Dark Sky short-term weather predictor project keeps you dry, needs your cash
Kickstarter is a seeming never-ending well of amazing ideas, and Dark Sky certainly qualifies. Basically, the app uses hyper-local radar data to calculate when weather is about to happen to you — as far into the future as the upcoming hour. It's designed for calculating quick outdoor excursions, like a commute or a dog walk (one of the founders slotted a wedding in-between rain showers), using existing radar data. Dark Sky also visualizes that incomprehensible cloud cover map into a beautiful and useful animation. The developers are looking for cash to finish the app and fund the servers that will be required to crunch everybody's local weather data. In the meantime we're going to stay safely indoors, where we belong.
