Anyone having their browser freeze upon loading the Verge

My browser (and sometimes whole computer) tends to freeze for about 5 seconds upon loading The Verge.  The culprit ends up being flash, which crashes.

I'm using Chrome on Win 7 64 bit on a Thinkpad that's only about a year old.

Just trying to gauge the performance everyone else is having with The Verge.
