Verizon's double data deal only for new 4G phones
If you were excited by Verizon's new 4G double data plan, we've got bad news: if your phone is more than 2 weeks old, you're not eligible. Verizon has clarified some of the details of the deal in an email statement to us, and there's a big caveat. Anyone who purchases a new 4G phone through Verizon is in, but according to Verizon, only "existing customers who have upgraded their service or purchased a 4G smartphone within the last 14 days will be eligible."
The bargain gives you double your normal data allowance for as long as you have a 4G phone, and starts today if you're eligible. It'll only be sold through the holidays and won't work with Mobile Hotspot plans or USBs, so it's great if you want to pick up a Motorola Droid RAZR, less so if you already have an HTC Thunderbolt.
