Archos G9 tablets getting Android 4.0 in Q1 2012
Archos announced today that its 8-inch 80 G9 and 10-inch 101 G9 budget tablets will be getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich some time in the first quarter of 2012. There was some disappointment at the launch of the tablets In September because the processor was dropped from 1.5GHz to 1GHz while the starting price was bumped by $20, but putting the much-anticipated version 4.0 of Google's OS on them might help the company recover some goodwill. Archos also confirmed that the "Turbo" G9s with dual-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processors should be available by Christmas, rather than next year as previously expected. Pricing will start at €350 ($469) for the improved versions.
