LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs will be first to integrate Intel WiDi wireless streaming
Intel's Wireless Display media streaming solution has been a firm favorite of ours, but the one hurdle standing in its way has been the need for an adapter to connect it to your HDTV. That issue has now been overcome, thanks to LG promising to integrate WiDi into its 2012 line of Cinema 3D Smart TVs, and to also promote the standard going forward. WiDi streams content up to 1080p through a Wi-Fi connection between (some) Intel CPU-powered laptops and adapter-equipped televisions. Now that LG and Intel have obviated the need for the latter, this becomes truly wireless streaming. The first LG Smart TV sets to include WiDi will be shown off at CES 2012, though we'd expect other TV manufacturers to be joining the fray soon as well.
