Nokia Lumia 800 Dark Knight Rises hands-on pictures

The batphone, it's real. Alright, let's not exaggerate, this is just a Lumia 800 with an etched Batman logo on the back and some fancy packaging, but boy, does it stimulate one's inner superhero geek. The extremely limited (I've got number 16 of 40 around the globe) Lumia 800 Dark Knight Rises edition celebrates Christopher Nolan's reboot of the dark hero franchise with a set of preloaded wallpapers and a new DKR tile on the Windows Phone homescreen. Nokia promises that'll be the place where owners of the handset will receive updates on the film's progress toward release next year, though at the moment it just invites you to visit the Dark Knight Rises website. Besides the etching on the back, which features a rougher and even darker texture than the phone's smooth matte covering, the silicon case for this phone also has a bat logo carved into it. As usual, Nokia gets top marks for presentation and style. And since this particular smartphone will never be on sale, we don't have to worry about it being unreasonably priced either!
Nah, we don’t keep devices given to us by companies. But I’ll have it for a little while, yes. Until I send it to SeNiLe to conduct his forensic oil absorption tests.
the old nokia 5800 was in the last batman film i think, funnily enough I have a 5800 :o
I think you could make your own version if you where brave enough to strap a lumia (or n9 for ultimate nerdgasm) into a cnc machine with a tiny tool to machine out the bat logo. dont know how you would get the texture though :(
Man, I really want a WP7 Nokia device, but I NEED a keyboard. I do not want a slate device (I could care less if the market for them is in demand. I’m different than from everybody else). I hope they’ll release some in the near future with some.
Why in the world didn’t they make more like 10,000 of these? I’m sure geeks all over, even if they previously had no intention of getting on the WP7/Nokia bandwagon, would have jumped on this..

My thoughts exactly, if it’s special edition, it needs to be more than an engraving and some “special tiles” lol

Who in the world has such greasy fingers touching such a beautiful phone? From the box to the phone… grease!!! Come on, you kidding me???

That’s the nature of the material Nokia uses. It picks up oil very easily and there’s no easy to clean it completely.
Unless you intend to use this with latex gloves on, the few instances of oil marks are actually representative of what you’ll be seeing too.

Until you make a rip off model that looks similar and give them your fake!
I’d totally quit the verge and run off into the night with this bad boy. Pun(s) intended.

So who is able to buy these phones then? I don’t get the point. Why would they want the publicity without actually offering them to consumers?

No custom tiles? Lame.

You could always use the images to create your own tiles, but they won’t be live.

What is that third Nokai? The N9? It doesn’t say anywhere what phone other than the Lumia 800 it is being compared to?
Posted on Dec 16, 2011 | 1:20 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
How about some black colored tiles? Seriously, black tiles on this device would make this phone!
