HTC Wildfire
Reviewed by Xavdog (Currently owns)
The HTC Wildfire is a solid device that would serve a first-time smartphone owner well, but the software performance leaves much to be desired. HTC Sense 1.0 for Android crashes relatively frequently and overall performance has improved since I replaced it as the default launcher by Launcher 7. The display is very poor. The phone sports a 320 x 240 3.2 inch panel and the capacitive touch screen is often unresponsive. Locking and unlocking the phone solves the problem but it is unsatisfactory to have to do this. The Android Market has a wide choice of apps but a large number are not compatible with the device due to its low resolution. Games such as Angry Birds do not run well with the 528MHz processor and the build quality feels poor as a squeeze of the device will remove the flimsy back cover. Overall I would not recommend this phone as there are far better devices in a similar price range.
