LG announces 84-inch 4K 3D TV for CES

/

LG couldn't wait for CES to take the wraps off what could very well be its flagship television for next year. It's announced that it will be showing off an 84-inch "ultra-definition" television at the show with a 3840 x 2160 screen resolution, 3D capability, and all of LG's Smart TV bells and whistles — including a library of 1,200 apps and its voice-controlled Magic Remote feature.

The 3D on this set will be the passive variety, the better to work with LG's new lightweight 3D glasses. The passive system means that each eye sees a different set of pixels via polarized filters, effectively reducing the total number displayed for 3D content — though at this resolution 3D content would still be fully HD. We'll be checking it out for you at CES, where hopefully LG will provide more details on a price and release date.
