BBC Global iPlayer coming to iPhone and iPod touch December 8th
The BBC's successful Global iPlayer application for iPad is extending its availability into the whole iOS family, with support for iPhone and iPod touch hitting on December 8th, according to The Next Web. The video on demand app, which brings both current and classic BBC content to international viewers by streaming or download, launched in July of 2011. The current iPad application is available in 16 countries (Canada is the only place in North America where you can grab it), and the new application for iPhone and iPad will be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The app essentially acts internationally as a subscription service, with a flat fee attached for viewing content.
