Facebook Android app updated with speed and notification tweaks, iOS-style navigation pane
Facebook just announced a brand new Android app that adds many of the UI and visual design we saw earlier this year in the official iOS app. Facebook is claiming photo and album performance is twice as fast as previous Android releases, and you'll find tweaks that make photo sharing, commenting, and caption editing easier. Like iOS, the Android app dropped the old navigation grid in place of the previously iOS-only sidebar menu for easier access to search, News Feed, and other apps, and there's now a permanent menu bar at the top for accessing friend requests, messages, and notifications. The app should be available soon in the Android Market.
