The nearly two-month old ban on sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia was originally supposed to have ended a week ago, but an extension for one last appeal from Apple delayed that until today. Reuters reports that Apple has lost that appeal. The good news for Android fans is that Samsung will have the device back on store shelves as early as Monday, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. That's just in time for last-minute holiday shoppers, who can expect to drop $579 AUD for the Wi-Fi version and $729 AUD for the 3G version.

The larger Apple vs Samsung lawsuit in Australia is ongoing, with a final trial set to begin March 2012.
