If there was any question that gaming was no longer just for children, Virgin Gaming's announcement that next year's Battlefield 3 Worldwide Conquest Tournament will include $1.6 million dollars in cash and prizes should clear things up. While details on the competition (which is being run in participation with EA DICE) are extremely slim right now, and a date for the tournament has no yet been announced, prospective contestants can already pre-register as of today. 

If you had any doubts about having to show up in person, cheer up: the contest will be online, so you won't need to get a special outfit or leave the house.
