Anonymous's newest operation: Innocence
Guess What? Anonymous just announced there newest operation: innocence. This is one of there most interesting yet random operations yet in my opinion. What's the operation against? The TLC show Toddlers and Tiaras. Earlier this week anonymous posted this video
Anonymous: Operation Innocence (via TheAnonMessage)
:
The video states "We have taken notice of a program that has been run for five seasons on the controversial channel, TLC. This program is promoting the sexism of young, innocent girls, transforming them into this hybrid, adult, sexual state. Pictures from the show, "Toddlers and Tiaras", have given way to an increase in child pornographic images. These images depict female children in quote, "slutty costumes that enduce sexual reactions amongst perverted beings".
This is something we cannot allow to continue."
Anonymous goes on to state there commands:
1. They will take down the official website of "Toddlers and Tiaras".
2. They demand the show be discontinued.
3. "Any following persons will be an indefinite target. Those listed shall be the first of many.
Tanya Perez.
Stacey Alley.
Wendy Dickey.
Susanna Barrett.
and Mickie Wood."
We'll have to see what Any following persons will be an indefinite target. Those listed shall be the first of many.
Tanya Perez.
Stacey Alley.
Wendy Dickey.
Susanna Barrett.
and Mickie Wood.
Well have to see what happens because as of now TLC has no plans of canceling Toddlers and Tiaras.

Why should they even CARE about this TV show? There are more important things to do, and if the public truly hated it, it would be off the air already.

They have “given way to an increase in child pornographic images.” That is why they care.

Really? I could easily come up with multiple reasons, but I’ll be blunt: IF TLC was doing this directly, they’d be sued to death. If you mean by indirect means, then TLC cannot be liable for that but rather the jerks that actually go ahead and do this.

Being legally liable for something and being responsible enough to consider the indirect result of your actions are two different things. TLC is not breaking any law – the actual lawbreakers are the pedophiles – but since it would be a bit easier for TLC to cancel their program than it would be to catch and convict all the world’s sexual predators, TLC might consider the social benefit of taking the show off the air.
Of course, there’s also the fact that the show glamorizes the behavior of and profits from truly deranged mothers who are sometimes (if not frequently) seriously messing with their kids’ emotional well-being. Again, it’s probably not illegal, but it’s kind of deplorable.
All of that said, I’m not convinced Anonymous’ actions are appropriate (in general, and not just with respect to this show). It’s vigilantism, with all the potential for problems that arise therefrom.
