Is the Hardware Keyboard Dead?

It has become quite obvious to me lately that we may be observing the slow death of the hardware keyboard on our mobile phones. The top selling phones of our day are void of hardware keyboards, and more and more devices are released without them while seemingly fewer are released with them. The days of the Blackberry, perhaps the most iconic phone with a hardware keyboard, seem to be waning while other contenders are growing stronger.

Are we at a point of no return in mobile history when it comes to hardware keyboards?

Personally, I hope not. I adore the keyboard on my Blackberry Bold even though I loathe the operating system.
