Motorola Defy+ JCB Edition ups the durability ante with protective sleeve and specialized apps
The Motorola Defy+ may not be a high-end smartphone powerhouse, but what the rugged, water-resistant device does offer is durability. Now Motorola Mobility is teaming up with UK-based construction equipment manufacturer JCB to take things a step further with the Motorola Defy+ JCB Edition. It's basically the same Defy+ we know from last year — 1GHz processor, 3.7-inch display, and a 5MP camera — wrapped in a "visco-elastic protective sleeve" for an even tougher exterior. The Gingerbread device is also getting push-to-talk functionality and a JCB-branded app with a number of specialized tools, including a level, theodolite, decibel meter, and unit converter. Currently available only in the UK at a price of £259.99, the phone is also being touted as a limited edition — though whether there's enough interest in the niche variant to warrant more than that remains to be seen.
