If you're a Windows Phone user who uses Google Calendar for your scheduling needs, you've probably been frustrated with the lack of support for multiple calendars. Thankfully, it looks like you don't have a reason to be angry anymore as Google announced today that it has added support for the feature in Google Sync for Windows Phone 7.5. In addition to improving calendar handling, the update lets Windows Phone users search through emails that aren't stored locally and set which email address to send from by default.
If you previously used a workaround to get access to multiple calendars on your Windows Phone, you won't be surprised by Google's method. While you don't need to change the user-agent string anymore, you still need to go to m.google.com/sync on your phone to set up which calendars you'd like to pop up on your device. It doesn't look complicated, but check out the Google Support source link below for help setting it all up.

Oh good. Google has implemented Exchange ActiveSync so very very weirdly. This shouldn’t even be needed, but I’m glad you don’t have to change the user agent string anymore.

will google allow youtube on wp7, or will they continue abusing their online video monopoly?

Well I think its a sign that Google is finally realizing that it needs to treat Windows Phone like its a worthwhile platform. Now here’s me hoping that they finally get their act together and make a decent Google Maps client for Windows Phone.

It’s about time, Google. I already had multiple calendars setup on WP7, though. You just had to do some things to get it to work.

Funny thing, I JUST updated my multiple calendars using the workaround earlier today! If I only procrastinated a few hours more.

Almost all problems can be solved by procrastinating more.

This was actually one of the main things keeping me from adopting wp7.
Now, if I can get a lumia 800 or 900 on Tmobile, im sold.

You can buy a Lumia 800 unlocked from a Microsoft Store.

Lumia 800 doesn’t come with aws bands so its not much use to him as the unlocked version.

This comes right after Microsoft showed people how to leave Gmail for Hotmail.

Maybe a real Youtube app with Metro UI

while that would be nice, would it really be that much more efficient? It’d have to open a browser window to view the video anyways (short of Google making the app, but we’re more likely to see pigs flying before that). I find the m.youtube.com UX perfectly fine and in some ways faster than the youtube apps on iOS/Android

Thing is.. if theres one thing MS knows well, its antitrusts. Given Googles current position in certain markets, and Microsofts complaint to the EU etc, if Google were wise they would just build an app! Far less troublesome than the potential consequences they may face if they carry on down their current route…

Check out Youtube Pro by “winner” if you’re serious about a good Youtube app. Both the paid and ad-supported versions are good. It uses metro, and is just about as good as any Youtube app on any platform as far as i know

Maybe they are waiting for Microsoft to give them access to the hard search button first so they can create their own search app.
Its a business. You have to give some to get some.

They shouldnt be allowed to dictate how MS designs their OS to operate before making an application. Having access to the hardware search button should not be a factor in whether they make an app or not.

Also, searching on the phone for e-mails beyond the range you chose to keep on your phone (2 weeks or 1 month or whatever) works now. It used to just return an error every time. Well-needed updates!
