Need further proof that 2011 was a great year for gaming? Despite being met with near universal acclaim, when push came to shove, Assassin's Creed: Revelations didn't make the cut on a number of industry "Best Of" lists you've likely been seeing of late. That's not stopping Shogun Bros. from releasing a custom model of its Chameleon X-1 mouse as an homage to the most recent entrant in the popular franchise. Available in two colors — Ezio grey and Altair white (named after the series' deadly killers) — the signature Chameleon is adorned with "antique" leather mouse buttons and branded with the Assassin's Creed insignia.

Aesthetics aside, the hardware seems more or less identical to the original X-1, sharing the same 16-button gamepad (which our own Sean Hollister found to be rather cramped in his review), 1600dpi tracking sensor, and integrated presentation mode. What's not clear just yet is whether this product shares the improved battery life that came with a minor hardware revision last fall. We'll be giving the Assassin's Creed-inspired Chameleon X-1 a good look on the CES show floor next week, where Shogun Bros. intends to officially launch the mouse.
