1080p IPS Monitor recommendations?
I'm looking to pick up a 1080p IPS monitor within the next week or so.
I know there's a range of sizes; 23, 24, 25, 27 inches. I previously had 2 different 24-inch 1080p monitors (non-IPS, Samsung and Dell), and liked the workspace available with that resolution.
I also realize there's 2 different resolutions, 1920x1080, or 1920x1200. I'm thinking I'd prefer the extra vertical space, for my purposes.
That being said, I noticed the article the other day about the Dell Ultrasharp, but without having done the research didn't want to pull the trigger.

I realize that there's different...grades of IPS. E-IPS, as mentioned in that article, S-IPS (better quality than E-IPS, I think), etc. It was awhile ago when I last researched the differences between them, and I've forgotten pretty much all of it. I know the top of the line IPS displays go above $1,000.
I was wondering if someone who already has some knowledge in this area might give me some recommendations as far as a ~23/24-inch IPS monitor. I'll still do the research, but anyone who can give me some recommendations as a starting point, I'd be most appreciative. My price range for this initial monitor is anywhere from ~$200-$500, depending on the quality.
Off the top of my head, the only manufacturers that I know make IPS displays (besides Apple) are NEC and Dell.
My plan right now is to make a short term purchase of a 23/24-inch IPS display (~1920x1200) to hold me over, then upgrade it sometime within the next 6-12 months to a 27/30-inch IPS display (2560x1440, or 2560x1600).
My primary needs are a combination of HD video editing (720/1080p), image editing, as well as just general screen real estate. Having multiple programs open side by side without really needing an extra monitor is pretty handy.
Thanks,
Robrain
