Look, we knew Sonic was down on his luck. Those Mario & Sonic at the Olympics titles don't pay the sort of royalties you'd think, and endless efforts to trade on Sonic nostalgia in actual-Sonic-game form have only managed tepid success. Still, we didn't know it was this bad. Sonic is now helping those creepy people in those Progressive Auto Insurance ads peddle their generic wares. Sure, he's looking trim and fast, but we see the hurt behind those giant eyes. Apparently this isn't the first commercial work Sonic has done, he's a bit of a pitchman in his native Japan, but at the rate his career is going, it probably won't be his last.
