The X-Pro1 mirrorless camera isn't official but you can already pre-order a trio of lenses for Fujifilm's first mirrorless camera — the same three lenses leaked by the French magazine Réponses Photo. Both the Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 and 18mm f/2.0 lenses are listed for $499.95 on Amazon, with the 60mm f/2.4 macro offered for $599.95.

We're also getting a first look at what's purported to be the LC-XPro1 leather case for the 83 x 138 x 38-mm X-Pro 1 as well as the EX-X20 flash from origins unknown. But at this point, we're guessing you're just as desperate for information about Fujifilm's hot little shooter as we are while awaiting its anticipated announcement at CES this week.

Very nice camera. I can’t wait to try one out when they release.

Ugh, an exposure compensation dial. I’d rather have an ISO dial.
Lenses are slightly pricey, but in line with this category of cameras.

EV dial is great (I own an X100 and used an X10 this weekend). ISO can be on the FN button.

the opposite. there’s no 35mm f/1.4 for other mirrorless systems (sony, olympus, panasonic). there’s leica summilux 35 f/1.4 – check the price of that one. also none of these systems offer 18mm f/2, sony’s wide angle is f/2.8. i think that fuji, if these rumours turn out to be true (amazon removed all links), has a winning combination here.

Because the other systems work differently. The m4/3 version is the Panasonic 25/1.4 Again a fairly pricey lens, considering Nikon and Canon 50/1.4s can be had for less.
Still mirrorless being quite new and all, I can see why makers want to price gouge a bit. Who doesn’t like fat profit margins?

That’s the nice thing about the NEX 7, you can customise the dials to whatever.

And the nice thing about these Fuji X series is they look like they were designed by and for humans – not Androids (pun intended).

You do know that you’ll be able to assign ISO control to the EC dial, right? Just sayin’. And FWIW, I adjust EC from shot to shot way more than I adjust ISO. ISO is more like… from environment to environment. It makes sense to me that EC gets higher priority.

that doesn’t make any sense, how can you assign ISO control to Exposure Compensation dial? Do you know something we don’t? Aren’t you confusing Fuji with Sony’s NEX-7 where you can assign different functions to different dials? X100 definitely doesn’t allow you to assign ISO to exposure compensation.

OMG, this is just so unbelievably hot!
Hope autofocus will be much better than the X100.

This is a dream come true for X100 users wanting the lens interchangeable. So, I’m guessing the body and lenses are sold separately.

From what was floating around on photorumors it sounds like the kit will include the 35mm 1.4 lens for roughly the same price as the NEX 7 kit.

new rumours are up, apparently body appeared on amazon for $1700 – that’s too much if the price is for body only

Oh fucking hell they have to be taknig the piss if that’s the case!

Holy crap this is like my Contax G2 turned into a digital form (a complete dream come true!). Will definitely be tempted to ditch my m4/3 setup for this if the IQ turns out to be excellent.

You have an amazing camera! Jealous! I had Carl Zeiss lenses for Contax G for NEX-5. It was amazing. =)

Looks like the lenses have an aperture ring and large manual focus rings.
Can’t wait for the review of the 35/1.4

It’s nice but seems to be priced in the stratosphere
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 1:51 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
pretty reasonable actually.

It’s reasonable.

No 23/24mm? That’s a more important focal length(on APS-C) than any of the three the camera is launching with.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 3:23 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
Honestly, those threes lenses still beat NEX lenses.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 3:33 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
I disagree. 35mm is great
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 4:28 PM EST reply Recommend (2) Flag actions
Naaah, that focal length actually kept me from buying the X100. In addition to being broke, of course sadface

That’s a very nice body design, although I don’t like the all-black body. They should make a model with silver trim, like the Fuji X100 and the Leicas.

I WANT THIS
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 3:32 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
It looks very nice, but I really wonder about the bulk. Once you add a much bigger lens and possibly flash unit, you have to start thinking you could just carry a FF DSLR instead and have fewer compromises (larger optical viewfinder, probably much better battery life and focusing, wider lens selection, better DOF control, etc.). Compared to the X100 this thing is no longer pocketable in any way (large coat or shorts pocket).
Other than the horrible AF performance I really like the X100 because it has good IQ in a “pocketable” format. This thing…meh. Might as well just break out the D700 with the pro lenses and not compromise anything. As I said it looks nice and I’m sure it’ll be a very good camera. But the advantages vs. DSLR are more blurry.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 5:03 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
83 × 138 × 38mm is bulky? That’s only 8% wider and 11% taller than the X100, and roughly the same thickness (can’t tell directly because the X100 is usually measured including its fixed lens, of course). Still smaller than a small APS-C DSLR.

Here, I posted a size comparison with my current APS-C Rebel (the 1000D): http://cl.ly/2z0r311J2Q2K0z1x3T2d

Sorry to triple post (is there no edit feature?) but I just wanted to add that the advantages are actually pretty compelling. Hybrid viewfinder, silent operation, probable leaf shutter for super high flash sync speeds, ultra-low shutter lag, physical dials for exposure triangle, M-mount lens adaptability, comparable sensor quality due to 6-color randomized photosites and no blurring AA filter, etc…. you have to ask yourself, would this be your primary camera? What kind of photography do you do? I see myself trading in ALL my Canon gear for this, if it means I will carry my camera and a couple lenses around with me more often. But I’m not shooting sports or wildlife, etc.

" probable leaf shutter" – i’m not sure about this but agree with the rest. I already dumped my dSLR and 3 lenses for X100. I’ve used my telephoto zoom lens only 3 times and most of the time I’ve been using 35mm f/1/8 and wished for something a bit wider and still fast but there was nothing on the market – that’s why I bought X100. I take mostly photos of landscapes, architecture and occasional street.
Posted on Jan 09, 2012 | 6:55 AM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
One thing I’m wondering about. Are these new lenses going to have a lens shutter, as in the X100, or does the camera now have a traditional shutter? I’m guessing that’s the case. Too bad, I love the lens shutter for fast sync speeds and quiet operation, and I love having the built in ND filter on the X100. Hopefully that would still be possible here.

I’m definitely buying it to shoot next to my film Leica!
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 5:28 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
Whatever happened to “bigger than FF”? Fujifilm, you’ve letten me down. And that’s not as unbelievable as it looks, as they do the Hasselblad sensors, and I believe H-system lenses as well. (?)
Though, if Fuji’s own M-mount adapter is any good my NEX-5 is looking at a replacement, especially if these lenses cover FF/MF as well. (seriously, a rangefinder-STYLE medium format camera. I want that.)

Fuji has confirmed their new APS-C (1.5X) sensor will have the X-Trans Fuji developed sensor technology that is inspired by film emulsions. They’ve also stated that they will have resolving power equal to if not superior to full frame so we shouldn’t worry!
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 6:05 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
Resolving power is only one aspect related to sensor size, and not even necessarily the most important one. Noise and narrow DOF are also very important (depending on what kind of pictures you take), and most likely APS-C is going to fall short of FF and MF there.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 6:12 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
Fuji’s been working on an organic sensor technology that works similar to the Sigma Foveon sensors that they claim will surpass the image quality of any current fullframe sensor so lets wait and see what the results look like before we jump to conclusions.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 6:30 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
We’ll see if they have some great new way to reduce noise, that might be possible, but it’s not going to help give narrow DOF capabilities, that’s physics and can’t be worked around by a new sensor process.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 6:45 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
You are right but, to me, DOF is mostly a product of the lens I use. Maybe I’m just thinking like a film rangefinder shooter.
Posted on Jan 08, 2012 | 7:09 PM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
You’re right, it is the lens; depth of field control comes from a combination of focal length and aperture; with a larger aperture or and/or a longer focal length you can achieve greater depth of field control. Therefore, since FF cameras require a longer lens to achieve the same crop, you get more depth of field control. This is also why medium format and large format cameras are still desirable for portraiture.
Posted on Jan 09, 2012 | 12:03 AM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
They never said bigger than FF. They said "better" than FF. You made the assumption that that meant a larger sensor.
Posted on Jan 09, 2012 | 5:09 AM EST reply Recommend Flag actions
Jeesh! This looks good. I hope the rumors are true of an M-mount adapter at some stage…. (maybe follwed by a Contax G mount to use the incredible Zeiss 45mm F2) My guess is the sensor is using some form of pseudo-randomisation of pixel arrangement that mimics the way light sensitive particles are laid on film emulsion (and in part – the way our retinas are laid out) If true, Fuji are to be congratulated on finally providing what some photographers have been dreaming about for several years……
