Netgear introduced the Netgear Media Storage Router at CES, which combines the solid wireless networking capabilities of the N900 router with a user-upgradeable 2TB of built-in storage and DLNA streaming support. The box also has 2 USB 3.0 ports on the back to add additional storage or network a USB printer. Support for Apple Time Machine should give Apple users an alternative to the Time Capsule, and the included Readyshare software provides continuous backups for PCs. Like other NAS boxes, the Media Storage Router lets you access files over the internet as well, giving you your own personal cloud storage. On the router side, it provides dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz connectivity with up to 450Mbps transfer speeds, and the ability to run applications downloaded from the Netgear App Store — this should allow new functionality to be enabled in the future. Netgear's NAS should be available this summer with pricing to be announced later.
