AT&T Throttling iPhone 5
Let me give you the full story.
I was one of those lucky enough to receive my iPhone 5 on day one. What's the first thing I did? Speed Test of course. I reached 52 mb/s down, and 20 mb/s up. Crazy. The entire first day was like this. I live in Houston and everywhere I went I was reaching similar speeds.
But ever since launch day, I have never reached above 30 down. I've tried every time I hit a new cell tower, and multiple times a day. Maybe it is just the huge traffic of new LTE users right? Wrong.
Many times have I put LTE Android phones adjacent to the iPhone. All on the new mobile data share plan, all on AT&T. You guessed it. They received the crazy ~50 mb/s speed, while I did not. Still not above 30. I tried running the test at the same time on all devices, and even one at a time. Non- iPhone 5 is always faster.
Anyone else notice this?
