The Wall Street Journal has published a great gallery showing the process that turns an ordinary actress into a blood-curdling zombie for the AMC series The Walking Dead, which returns for a third season tomorrow. Professional makeup artistry is nothing new, but what's interesting here is the sheer effort that goes in — as a "hero walker," one of the more prominent zombies in the show, actress Xan Angelovich receives a full prosthetic make-over, including scars and bite marks on her neck, deep wounds on her face, and even a black, ink-like substance on her teeth.
