In February of 1977, Steubenville, Ohio's Herald-Star published some of the town members' predictions about what the world will be like at the turn of the millennium, including some written by local middle school children. The Smithsonian Magazine recently compiled some of the students' original responses, which covered everything from fear of depleting energy sources and increased crime to hopes of living on Mars with robot maids (The Jetsons premiered in 1962).
