Polynauts Central: (15/10 Archived)

Thanks to dummysystem for the closest thing to a space jump in the header thread!
It's Monday, October 15th, and I am not your usual host. Shaun is still in Ye Olde Ireland, and Salias is having a critical internet failure, so todays Polynauts Central duties are back in the hands of Old Man Stardust.
Were any of you watching the Red Bull Stratos space jump yesterday? Was that not the craziest thing? And the way he landed on his feet and walked on, like an absolute BOSS? Tremendous stuff. Now get to talking about how YOU would jump from space.
- For comics, manga and anime and if want a nice organised place to talk about those, then head on over to Crisis on Infinite Polygons (Comics/Animation) Issue #9: Free Comic for BreadKnights' all-in-one thread.
- If you want to talk game related art - or even art in general but be sure to head over to the thread by Paradox Me called The Polygon Gallery of Fine Arts and grab yourself some cheese, olives and a glass of wine.
- If you want to talk about, or discover new music then Shinta has a thread for you simply called Music.
- If you want to talk about any movies or television shows with fear of spoilers then go to PrinceLUDA21's thread - Polynauts The Movie: Episode 5 - A Good Day To [Blank] Hard.
FROM POLYGON
1: 'Darkstalkers Resurrection' is a nuanced tribute to fans of an arcade classic by Brian Crecente
"With these HD rereleased games we have tried to appeal to fan nostalgia and fond memories of those days playing these games in arcades," said producer Derek Neal. "Arcade mode, for instance, even has buttons and sticks. We recognize fans love that. We want to recreate that experience for them."
2: 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' fills in story gaps left by 'Alien 3,' says Gearbox by Alexa Rae Corriea
Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines is the canonical sequel to James Cameron's Aliens. During a panel today at New York Comic Con, the development team along with special guest actor Lance Henriksen discussed the challenges of creating the film's successor in the form of a video game.
3: 'StarCraft 2' professional gamer suspended for sexual comments by Megan Farokhmanesh
Ilyes "Stephano" Satouri, a French StarCraft 2 professional player with Evil Geniuses, has been suspended without pay for several comments made during a TwitchTV live stream, reports GameSpot. Satouri sent fellow StarCraft 2 player Samayan "BlinG" Kay of Team Dignitas a private message via Battle.net, which was screen captured during the stream.
4: 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 2' Zombies has buildable shields by Megan Farokhmanesh
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will allow players to build and use items as shields in Zombies mode, a new teaser trailer has revealed.
5: First 'Sleeping Dogs' campaign DLC, 'Nightmare in North Point,' coming October 30th by Samit Sarkar
Sleeping Dogs' first story-expanding piece of downloadable content is called Nightmare in North Point, and it will be available on October 30th, co-developers United Front Games and Square Enix London Studios announced at a New York Comic Con panel this afternoon.
FROM THE POLYNAUTS FORUMS:
1: How did you choose names for your XCOM soldiers? by mattmarquez
It's taken about 20 hours but I finally suffered my first casualty in the fight against alien invaders who remain remarkably resistant to my efforts to resolve our differences over a hot cup of cocoa. You will be missed, Capt. Thom "Bard" Merrilin.
2: Will Polygon do video reviews? by ChronoSapien
I was just wondering. The text reviews are already great but video reviews would be a cool addition. Not to mention they would extend your reach. People could see them on youtube and they'd have added interest in the site.
3: Racism addresed, and LGBTQIA taken in stride; Which games do this? by Black Knight Rebel
So, I was thinking this over and wondered which games include these elements? The only game I can think of is Valkyria Chronicles. In VC there are the Darcsens-- an entire race of people who are looked down upon, hated, and actively shunned away and used for slave labor for various plot related reasons.
There are plenty more posts (too many to post at times) from the Polynauts community over the past few days - go check them out here!
