Of Touchpads and Trackpoints

With the birth of Windows 8 Atom Cloverview tablets came the optional ~$100 keyboard docks. Right now, I'm torn between Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 and the Samsung/HP models. One of the main differences between the 10.1" and the 11.6" models' respective keyboard docks is that Lenovo removed the touchpad completely and kept their signature red dot trackpoint plus the three buttons at the bottom of the dock thing.

I'm pretty sure part of the decision for the removal of the touchpad would be efficient use of space. The ThinkPad 2 is smaller than most of the other Atom devices after all.

I'm really set on buying an Win 8 Atom Convertible tablet. But I'm really having a hard time choosing given this difference with the keyboard docks. I can't decide if a touchpad for a windows 8 device would be useless, or if the trackpoint is not suited for win 8 (cause I haven't really used a pc with one).

Especially with the new gestures for W8 and all, how useful would this trackpoint by Lenovo be, as opposed to having a full touchpad? Also, you think having the trackpoint is better? Comments please! Thanks
