Nexus 7 Battery Draining...

Lately my Nexus 7 has been burning through the battery. It dies after 2 days with zero use and a full starting charge. Anyway, I checked out the battery app and it has indicated that 90% of my battery has gone to "Maps". I find this weird though because:

1. The Google Apps map is not running
2. Location services are turned off for the entire system
3. There is no locally stored data for the maps (I read somewhere this can cause weird battery usage...not sure why)

So I am stumped. What the hell is maps doing in the background?
