Sony Cyber-shot RX100
Reviewed by Chris Ziegler (Currently owns)
This camera is outrageously good. I've owned many "enthusiast" P&S cameras over the years — the S95, S100, P7000, P7100, G9 — and you're never really able to shake the feeling that you're going to be trapped in a lighting situation where your equipment can't perform. In my very brief testing so far, I think the RX100 is the first no-compromises P&S I've used, and it's going to push my need for carrying a DSLR to a VERY bare minimum. Interface is great and fast, DMF mode (AF with MF override) works super well with the lens control ring. Oh, and it CHARGES OVER MICRO-USB! No more sense of dread that you forgot your proprietary battery charger!
No Wi-Fi or GPS, but neither of those are big features for me. Only real problem is price — I might wait a year until it drops $100 or $150 at retail.
