Is a carrier-branded Nexus worth it?

So I have an upgrade that I'm in no rush to use, and I'm on Sprint, which got the Galaxy Nexus like five months after it was announced, and the Galaxy S III was released like two months later with up-to-date specs. I'm wondering whether it's a viable option to get the next Sprint branded Nexus when it comes out, because it usually comes out very late and lags on upgrades.
