Thoughts on the iPad product-cycle
With the unusual name of the latest iPad and the eventually upcoming little refresh, I think, apple is moving away from their 1-year-cycle for the iPad. I think they are going to a cycle similar to the OSX products, with 1-2 little updates/year (new processor, more storage, lighting connector, FaceTime HD, etc) and then every 2-3 years they have a big update with a new design and other big changes.
If they would give a new number to every new iPad with this little changes, you woul feel let down, if your iPad after 8 months is outdated/not the newest. But most people wouldt recognize this little changes and if you look now, nobody cares about, whether you got the late 2011 or mid 2012 MacBook.
On the other hand, it could be, that they wouls sell less, because some people just would buy a new iPad, if its got a new look. But I think with the new cycle, they could get more steady sells over the year, because now nobody buys a new iPad in february, because everybody knows, that a new one is coming in March/April.
What do you think?
