iPad 4th gen : Is it rushed ? or Came at the Right time ?
Before , starting this , i just want to say that iPad 4 is better than iPad 3 in every way since it has both CPU and GPU bumps and kept same price , battery , design and feel which means iPad 4th gen is a worth (and Surface was disappointing for many) and i can't wait for the review.
When iPad 4th gen was announced , i felt uncomfortable , because i brought iPad 3rd gen 5 months back and felt "i should have waited".I had mixed thoughts in my mind because on one hand iPad 3 feels 2 generations old because A5X has same A5 CPU which is 2 gens old already (iPad 2 march 2011) , while on other hand , GPU performance is same as iPhone 5 which feels as if iPad 3 (or 2) is the latest and greatest device.
But finally where does iPad 4 has huge lead over 3 ? I think its the CPU , That's all. When using a tablet , i am not sure how many play graphic intense games ,but anyone who uses iPad do web browsing and use apps , which means 4th gen feels way more snappier on "daily usage" on "most of the tasks" than 3rd especially with 50% increase in CPU performance.
But finally , is that necessary ? I honestly think that iPhone 3GS web browsing speed is enough for me but difference i am going to find is , in launching apps or playing the latest games (for example during iPad 3 event , Infinity Blade dungeons lagged a bit during demo).
So 3rd gen iPad is still worth ? or iPad 4th is rushed ? I think iPad 3 was outdated by the time , it has arrived. Anandtech (i am truly following their reviews lately) , said that iPad 3 CPU needs bump and he stated how performance is very bad by taking example of iPhoto App , where CPU usage was heavy and device was sluggish.
So i think iPad 4th gen is not rushed but arrived VERY LATE .
But if you are comparing to the competition and lets see if they win Vs iPad 2 and after that , we can compare them to iPad 3 and iPad 4 :) (which means "iPad" line-up is 2 generations ahead of competition putting iPad 2 as baseline)
