All Apps Menu Clutter

So i have noticed that after installing alot of my legacy software onto windows 8, my all app menu is full of clutter.

Is there any way to move or sort these into categories via file explorer?

I managed to find the directory for all of the app shortcuts, but when you move them around they stay in their original position in the all app menu (also you can no longer use them because the shortcuts have moved).

EDIT:

So i think i Figured out the solution:

Basically the way the all app menu is structured is exactly the same way the old windows 7 all programs section of the start menu was.

So basically you can modify the order in which the apps are listed by moving them around in your start menu directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

Now after modifying them the way you see fit, most of these shortcuts will no longer work. Your start screen will think that the icons are still where they were, but when you click on them, you will get an error saying that the file could not be found.

To fix this, just log off you user account and log back on.

TLDR:

If you dont like start menu clutter you can go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and move shit around the way you see fit (you can even set icons to hidden if you just don't want to see them at all).

Once you do this, log off and log back into your user account.
